If Water Could Write
Jette Held’s “If Water Could Write” traces the flow of the river Bode in the Harz region of Germany and the Danube near Vienna, Austria, in poetic photograms that resemble watercolors. After allowing the water to interact with photo paper for an extended period, the artist develops the works on location using flash, residual urban light, and moonlight.
